Yusen Logistics operates on a global scale, managing highly complex supply chains across industries. With a vast fleet of vehicles and distribution centres spanning 46 countries, safety management is a constant challenge, particularly in relation to vehicle incidents, workplace safety, and site-level compliance.
Yusen partnered with Prime Systems to move away from reactive reporting and towards a smarter, data-first approach to risk management—one that supports continuous improvement and confident, insight-led decision-making.
The challenge: Scaling safety insight in a fast-moving operation
Yusen initially approached Prime Systems to help improve the way they captured and reported vehicle-related incidents, not only to reduce risk but to gain clarity in liability claims involving third parties.
The team needed a solution that could offer better visibility, unify incident reporting, and ultimately help drive down the rate and cost of incidents across a large transport and logistics network.
The ambition quickly grew. From workplace injuries to security breaches, compliance checks, and environmental performance, Yusen saw the potential of Prime Systems’ platform to act as a central hub for all safety and risk-related data.
The solution: Bespoke tools and integrated Power BI feeds
Prime Systems delivered a tailored suite of tools, starting with a custom vehicle incident reporting module and expanding to include:
- Accident & Incident Reporting (including workplace injuries)
- Security Incident Reporting (covering product loss and damage)
- Compliance Monitoring (tracking safety and security checks across multiple sites)
- Hazard Reporting (with industry-specific information gathering and detailed causation capture)
- Environmental Incident Reporting (introduced alongside Hazard Reporting to support Yusen’s environmental and sustainability goals)
Recognising Yusen’s commitment to data-driven decision-making, Prime Systems developed automatic data feeds into Power BI, focused on hazard, near-miss, and environmental incident reporting. These were carefully designed to surface causation trends and enable real-time analysis across departments and locations.
The system delivers a daily feed of new and updated incidents to a secure server, allowing Yusen’s in-house teams to visualise emerging risks and benchmark performance across operations.
